Swords Reversed features 11 songs that were self-recorded during the onset of the pandemic and throughout 2021. Sparkling like sweet champagne, the 11 tracks dazzle as upbeat new-wave, disco-house anthems. Filled with hypnotic synths, sultry vocals, crunchy guitars and forefront, bouncy baselines, the tracks burst with undercurrents of no-wave and punk.

Singer and guitarist Ana Ayon states, “The peppy sounds we use are a direct rebellion against the oftentimes overwhelming force of struggling with depression in a world that can be quite cruel and bleak. The album is meant to tell a story of the struggles one has with feelings of anger, isolation and sadness and how looking inwards to find the strength and confidence to carry on can be aided by having a solid and supportive loved one to turn to. For me, that’s one hundred percent Lucy. It's not necessarily optimistic, but it is about how powerful maintaining hope and gratitude is."

Bassist and vocalist Lucy Bayne adds, “We tried to achieve this by mixing very beautiful synth chord progressions with guitar riffs that had a significant edge to them. We used funky bass lines and dynamic rhythms to juxtapose the instrumentation, hopefully creating an animated experience for the listener. ”

Fans can expect the grooviness of Deee-Lite, the sleek, understated vocals of Gina X Performance and the commanding basslines of ESG, all with a new synth sound that expands on their previous releases. Swords Reversed is a labor of love that builds a labyrinth of fantasy and jarring reality to get lost in.
